Het bedrijfsleven zit in de fase tussen greenwashing en echte actie. Tussen vrees \u2013 wat als mijn organisatie niet meer competitief is door duurzaamheid \u2013 en moed. Ik vind het inspirerend wat jullie doen: Sustainability Linked Notes gekoppeld aan een CO2 halvering in 2025. Wat bewoog jullie?<\/strong>
\n\u201cBij de start van de VodafoneZiggo joint venture gaven we aan 180 miljoen euro in \u2018run rate\u2019 synergi\u00ebn te beogen, binnen 3-5 jaar. Uiteindelijk hebben we dit doel verhoogd naar 210 miljoen euro en een jaar eerder behaald. Dit was het gevolg van de gekozen integratie aanpak waarbij we de klant centraal hebben gezet. De eerste integratiedoelen zaten dus op klant gerelateerde zaken zoals de converged propositie (combineren vaste en mobiele diensten). Daarna kwam het verder stroomlijnen van de organisatie en als laatste de zware systeemintegratie trajecten.\u201d<\/p>\n

Waarom focussen jullie op waardecreatie in plaats van bezuinigen?<\/strong>
\n\u201cOnze focus zat primair op doen wat het juiste is voor klanten en niet alleen maar kosten snijden. We hebben juist veel terug ge\u00efnvesteerd om succesvoller te worden. Onze focus ligt op waardecreatie, en niet de organisatie laten geloven dat je het resultaat alleen maar kunt verbeteren door te bezuinigen. Uiteraard betekent dit niet dat we niet scherp blijven als het gaat om kostenbeheersing en optimalisatie, maar aan het begin van de fusie en tijdens corona hebben we gezegd: we gaan hier met alle ruim 7000 mensen aan beginnen en we gaan samen door deze fase heen. Ook met als doelstelling om er sterker uit te komen en er dus samen een succes van maken. We hebben de coronasituatie dus niet gebruikt als excuus om grootschalig in te grijpen\u201d.<\/p>\n

Waarom zijn jullie zo actief met jullie People Planet Progress programma?<\/strong>
\n\u201cEen inzicht waar we vanaf dag 1 bij iedereen op gehamerd hebben, zodat dit goed tussen de oren zat: onze omzet van vier miljard euro bestaat uit een heleboel kleinere maandelijkse transacties met onze circa vier miljoen vaste en ruim vijf miljoen mobiele klanten. We leven dus bij de gratie van gunnen; immers er is keuze in Nederland als het gaat bij wie je je diensten wilt afnemen. En omdat we groot zijn, vinden we ook dat je dingen moet doen die bij de oudste of de wijste van de familie hoort. Een goed voorbeeld hiervan is ons People Planet Progress programma.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jullie willen de CO2 halveren per 2025? Dat is nog eens een doelstelling!<\/strong>
\n\u201cDe top 3 bedrijven binnen onze sector verbruiken, schat ik, tussen de 1,5 en twee procent van het totale energieverbruik van Nederland. Wij nemen actief onze verantwoordelijkheid om dit te veranderen. We hebben een zeer ambitieuze vernieuwde CSR-strategie waarin we de lat hoog leggen: 50 procent CO2 reductie in 2025 (t.o.v. het verbruik in 2018). Dat klinkt als iets wat veel bedrijven roepen, maar 50 procent minder: dan moet je echt wel wat doen. Dit betreft onze eigen emissie maar ook (in vakjargon) Scope 3 emissie oftewel emissie in \u2018de keten\u2019 van leveranciers en gebruikers van onze producten en diensten.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hoe financieren jullie dit?<\/strong>
\n\u201cIn januari hebben we miljarden geherfinancierd en gekoppeld aan sustainability. Dat betekent een roadshow, geld ophalen en rente betalen – alleen kiezen we er ook voor om harde CSR targets aan deze financiering te koppelen op het vlak van emissiereductie. Halen we de targets niet, dan zit er een boete element in. Halen we ze wel, dan zijn er extra voordelen voor ons. We durven de link te leggen tussen CSR en onze financieringsactiviteiten, dus nu moeten we! We kiezen voor een ge\u00efntegreerde aanpak waarbij de hele organisatie bijdraagt aan het behalen van de doelstellingen. Omdat we al onze medewerkers hebben gemobiliseerd, ben ik er van overtuigd dat we onze ambitieuze doelstellingen halen en een structurele impact gaan maken op de samenleving\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hoe zorg je ervoor dat je het ook echt gaat halen?<\/strong>
\n\u201cWe hebben onlangs een People Planet Purpose festival week georganiseerd waarbij iedereen zich kon inschrijven voor workshops, presentaties en lezingen. Daarmee cre\u00ebren we niet alleen het verder landen van dit topic, maar ook ambassadeurs. We hebben een framework neergezet dat ons helpt in het realiseren van onze doelen. Als een element te weinig aandacht krijgt, dan zie je dat vanzelf. We hebben een ongelooflijk rigide manier van rapporteren opgezet. Iedere maand rapporteren we de voortgang op een hele serie KPI\u2019s die oprollen naar die grotere doelstelling. Ook leggen we verantwoording af naar de buitenwacht middels het publiceren van een Impact Report\u201d.<\/p>\n

Wat is nog meer jouw droom?<\/strong>
\n\u201cIn 2025 ben ik al weer 50. Een mooie leeftijd, maar ook een leeftijd waarop je echt moet zorgen dat wat we nu future leaders noemen ook de leiders van dat moment zijn. Alle ruimte die ik de afgelopen 25 jaar in mijn werk heb gekregen, is wat ik de mensen in mijn team wil geven. Ruimte om je te ontwikkelen, fouten te maken zonder daar op afgestraft te worden maar juist om van te leren. De nieuwe generatie identificeren en klaarstomen voor mooie leidinggevende posities en ‘kleurbepalende’ posities is waar ik veel van mijn tijd in steek. Dan zie ik mijzelf met een kop koffie stilletjes genieten van al het moois wat we samen hebben opgebouwd als team.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
